What is the difference between you and someone who is considered highly successful. Is it intelligence or luck? Being in the right place at the right time?
Actually it's none of these things. What it boils down to is that successful people perform certain actions/have certain habits that those who are unsuccessful don't have.
So lets take a look at those habits one at a time.
1.The first habit, and the foundation on which all the other habits are built, is a clear sense of purpose. A wonderful way to do this is to write a mission statement. Avoid making the mistake of reading it once and then forgetting it. Read your mission statement at least twice daily, morning and evening and keep it in a visible place throughout the day.
2. Affirmations. Now doubt you've heard about affirmations, and perhaps you've even tried them because you've failed to see any positive results. For affirmations to be effective, you need to ensure that:-
You phrase the affirmation in the present tense. "I am..." and not "I will..." affirmations need to be repeated to cement them into the subconscious mind.
3.Write down your goals. Make them specific and measurable. But don't stop there. Read your list of goals out loud to keep yourself focused and on track. And everyday ensure that you're taking some time small steps toward achieving your goals.
4.Visualization. The subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between something you vividly imagine and something that is really true. Professional athletes have been using this technique for decades with spectacular results. Picture in detail what you want to achieve/have happen/want to acquire. See, feel, smell, touch and taste your goal. For example, if you want a new car, then see color, model and make, see the gleam of the paint work, feel the soft leather seats, feel the wind in your hair as you drive it and so on. Make the visualization come alive. The more senses you can visualize and the more senses you can involve, the better.
5.Take care what goes into your mind.
What you put into your mind is what you will get out. Garbage in, garbage out. The mass media is very negative. They thrive on horror stories and bad news. Can you ever remember the headlines being about something positive and uplifting?
Do you start off each day by listening to the radio and end your day by watching the eleven o' clock news? Try replacing that by listening to a motivational cassette, CD or mp3 instead. Not only will you feel much better, but your life will improve as a result as you grow and learn.
The number of self-improvement topics you can listen to is virtually endless. You'll never run out of good listening material.
Spend some time reading books on areas in which you wish to improve, whether it be marketing or parenting.
6.Physical Exercise.
You already know all the physical benefits of exercise, but how can regular exercise improve your bottom line? Exercise reduces your stress level, clears your mind so that you can think more clearly, helps you to feel better about yourself and gives you more stamina and energy. So get moving.
7. Hang around other successful people. It has often been said that who you become and what you achieve in the next 5 years depends on the company you keep and the books you read. Spend time with successful people who have accomplished what you are trying to accomplish and seek their mentorship and guidance. Stay away from negative people who belittle you and your dreams.
