Universal Law—Don't Quit - By Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD

As a motivational speaker and inspirational leader people frequently ask me—"What do you do when you are discouraged or overwhelmed?” The answer is: I am too busy creating solutions to be discouraged or feel overwhelmed. Read my article “We Experience What We Believe,” you will understand my solution to being discouraged or feeling overwhelmed.

Many years ago, I read a poem which reinforces my belief that anything in life is merely a journey—albeit sometimes uphill.

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will.

When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill.

When funds are low and the debts are high.

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.

When care is pressing you down a bit.

Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns.

As everyone of us sometimes learns.

And many a failure turns about.

When he might have won had he stuck it out:

Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –

You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out –

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt

And you never can tell how close you are.

It may be near when it seems so far:

So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –

It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

It is a Universal Law that if you Don’t Quit, you will reach your destination, no matter where you plan to go. It has been said that Thomas Edison was asked how he felt about failing 100 times in his quest to invent the light bulb. Edison didn’t see his experiments as ‘failures’ he saw them as success—100 ways how not to make a light bulb.

You too can adopt the Universal Law ‘Don’t Quit.’ If it doesn’t work one way—find another and another until you have reached your goal or invented the next great light bulb.
